France is making electronic invoicing general between businesses. In practice, paper and PDF invoices sent by email will disappear in favour of a structured format exchanged through certified platforms.
Your riding school, your livery yard or your self-employed business is concerned, like every French business, whatever its size.
The invoices you send to your riders do not become electronic invoices in the strict sense : they fall under e-reporting. You will have to send the data to the authorities, which your software does for you.
Every business, without exception, must be able to receive electronic invoices. Your suppliers (feed, farrier, vet, equipment) will start invoicing you through that channel.
Small businesses, which is almost every equestrian business, must in turn issue their invoices in electronic format for their business customers, and send the e-reporting of their sales to private individuals.
To receive your electronic invoices, your company number must be connected to a certified platform listed in the national directory.
From 2027 your invoices will have to go out in a compliant format. If your current tool does not provide for that, now is a good time to change, before the deadline and the rush.
Businesses that start early choose their tools calmly. The others will put up with the delays, the queues at support and the rushed migrations of the last quarter.
